Acapella Ensemble

Join acappella and experience music in a whole new way—no instruments, just your voice and the voices around you. A cappella builds confidence, strengthens musicianship, and creates a tight-knit community where every part matters. You’ll explore fun, contemporary music, develop vocal independence, and perform exciting arrangements that showcase the group’s unique sound. See Ms. Engel for more details!

Art Club

Meeting Dates: Once a week on Tuesdays after school from 3:15-4:00
Requirements: No sign up; Regular attendance is required because we will be working on collaborative projects.
Book Club

Cooking Club

Grab a friend and come learn how to make fun and delicious food and snacks.
Meeting Dates: There will be two groups that meet once a month.
Requirements:
- $30 fee
- Regular attendance
- Must sign up with Mrs. Becker - Limited number of students with limited number of kitchens
Drama Club
Sponsor: Ms. DeWald (ddewald@bennps.org)
6th and 7th grade students will participate in activities to increase their interest in the arts. We will extend what we do in drama class with the objective to put on a performance at the end of the year.
Meeting Dates: Wednesdays: 7:15 - 8 AM for 7th Grade; 3:15 - 4 PM for 6th Grade
Requirements: Drama club is open to the first 16 students who apply from each grade level
Fitness Club
Sponsors: Mr Glinski (tglinski@bennps.org) & Mrs. Frolio (vfrolio@bennps.org)
We will have a weekly workout followed by playing a game for the remainder of the time.
Meeting Dates: 3:15-3:45pm; Meet once a week, meeting day to be determined.
Requirements: Show up when you can and sign in; can use for make ups when absent from PE
Game Club

Play a variety of fun card and board games after school! Below are a few options that will be available but bring any more suggestions you have to Ms. Kraft. UNO, Spoons, Chess, Tapple, BINGO, and many more!!

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who are currently enrolled in Band.
Meeting Dates: Start Date: January 2027; Jazz Band will meet 1 morning a week at 7:30 am
Requirements: Completion of 6th Grade Band
Marimba Ensemble
Sponsor: Mrs. Nabower (anabower@bennps.org)
This is an auditioned club that performs various styles of music on Zimbabwe marimbas. The group is open to 6th thru 8th graders. The group will also have at least two performances during the school year. See Mrs. Nabower in Rm 106 for more information.
Meeting Dates:
- Marimba 1: Tuesdays before school from 7:15 - 7:50 am
- Marimba 2: Mondays after school from 3:15 - 4:00 pm

Science Club

Meetings will be in Mrs. Fangmeier’s room 712. We will do fun science activities, dissection, and experiments.

Service Club

The Service Club’s goal is to make sure the climate at BSMS is one where students feel a sense of purpose and place. We want to take the lead in building a culture that says it’s better to give than to take, it’s better to serve than be served, and it’s better to lead than to follow. We will create opportunities to build community, improve our campus and culture, and develop leadership skills that allow us to serve in ways that fit each leader in the group.
There will be a variety of opportunities to serve throughout the year.

Student Senate

Senators will work at our Student Senate sponsored school gatherings. We will work on leadership development, service to and outside our community, and promoting a positive school culture within our school building.
Meeting Dates: Applications open late August; Meetings at 7:30am 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month starting in September
Requirements: Selection of members that represent each grade level will occur at the beginning of the school year.
Yearbook
Sponsor: Ms. DeWald (ddewald@bennps.org)
Be a part of the creation of Bennington South’s yearbook that will showcase student life and build Bennington South pride! We will meet to work on the yearbook and assign coverage of school events.
Meeting Dates: Every Monday from 3:15-4:00pm from September to March
Requirements:
- Limited to 10 students from 7th and 8th grade
- Must be able to commit to attending at least 2 games per season to take pictures.
- If you miss more than 3 meetings without prior communication, you will be removed from yearbook staff.
- Complete and submit an application with English teacher recommendation
- Year-long commitment
